Thicket's Bronzy Bear (Rooted Cutting)
Coloring and the way the petals gently roll reminds us of a well-loved teddy bear. We grew this one from seed in 2021 and did not see it bloom that year. Luckily, we carried it over to discover the next year and have enjoyed seeing this one bloom for four summers. We are so excited to finally share with you!
Meet ‘Thicket’s Bronzy Bear’, which has been an Instagram and family favorite.
4 to 6” blooms of bronze, golden, and even a purply hue—such a great blender.
Strong, long dark stems on plants that are 6 to 7 feet tall and sturdy. Very tidy upright habit, and we do not stake or tie them up…we do have clay soil that anchors them in. (We joke that this is our sunflower dahlia)
Excellent in a vase and looks so good with many different flowers. Our favorite pairing is with RM October Skies!
Tubers are hearty, stocky, easy to dig, and not break in clay soil. Stores well.
Looks so cool planted along a garden fence with really dark sunflowers!
Pinch out the center when there are 3 sets of leaves to encourage more flowers, otherwise it will put a lot of energy into getting very tall…reminds me of how Salish Twilight Girl likes to grow to a “broomstick” when not pinched.
This Spring 2026 new release is exclusive here and we super appreciate you supporting our hybridization project and our family farm :)

All rooted cuttings come from tuber stock of dahlias we grew that were inspected during the growing season. In addition, we tested with Agdia Immunistrips for CMV, INSV, TMV, TSV & TSWV which all came up negative. We take great care in growing and providing the healthiest dahlias we can.
